Hello K-bloggers,
Keep this weekend clear because its Busy Hands at Books and Co this Saturday and Sunday.

It seems all of our friends have been baking, mixing, sewing, building and generally burning the candle at both ends to get ready for this sale. Be sure to stop and shop at The SparkBox Collective Booth - they are featuring mini tables with Sparkbox designed hand printed cards, Birdhouses, my own Groovy Terrariums, Sock Monkeys by the Sock Monkey Girls, incredible pillows by Becky Lane, hand knits by Laura and kids wovens by Marion Casson. As well there will be surprises for everyone.

Also Sean and Nicole will be selling hand bound books and things, Jewel of Bloomfield and everyone else I don't have room for here would love to see your smiling face.

The Stars of the Show, Mrs. Vicki Veggies and Bay Woodyard of Honey Pie Hives and Herbals will also be selling their wares. Don't forget your largest re-usable shopping bag!

the bands first song/video

This is super exciting and crazy cute. It's the Kelly's cut out dolls created by Niall Eccles now animated by Sean Bokencamp. Sean created all the animations and music himself and has also designed and created the Christmas window at the shop. It must have taken him a long time to cut out all the people and buildings so again I thank you and Nicole so much for making such a wonderful window.
As the title of the blog says this is also the bands first song/video the band was a drawing Niall did years ago and now there back with a hot new song and as always Ferris is the star.

Gift Guide

I subscribe to so many magazines, its actually a bit ridiculous. And as usual I will justify my excessive amount of magazines by saying things like at least I'm just addicted to magazines and not crack... seems to make me feel better. anyways, in the latest issue of Toronto Life magazine they have there gift guide for Christmas. I noticed that I have three of the items in the gift guide at my shop, and might I say that I am selling these wonderful gifts for less than the shops in Toronto. For example the I pod case is priced at $38 in Toronto life and I have it for sale for $16. One more reason to shop local this Christmas season.
The items shown are... a weinstein by Fred and Friends $25.... An I pod case that is leather bound and looks like a hymn book $16... and oragami sticky notes $4 by suck uk

Hi there it's felt like a long week here at Kelly's downtown Picton, even though I've been quite busy, changing the window from Halloween to winter (not Christmas yet). Thanks Niall.
Just to forewarn everyone, next week at the shop things are going to be quite exciting, the store is getting an exterior face lift! I've atached a before picture so you can have some Idea of what I'm talking about when I put up the after picture. And I've already been working with Sean Bokencamp and Niall on the Christmas window display. I'm looking forward....

Drop into Kelly's and make your christmas wish list!

I even bought a brand new Rolodex for 2009's Christmas wish lists. As you can see Melanie and Nell have already started there lists. This system has worked really well at the store for the past couple of years. All you have to do is come in and take a card and a pen and write down what you want for Christmas and file your card under your name and then hope that all of your loved ones come into the shop and get you exactly what you want this year. And for all of you shoppers that have a hard time picking out presents we're making your job way easier this year.

Battle of the Pies!!! Tonight!!!

Ok, tonight all started with the event shown above... a fundraising square dance party for the festival players, sounds like fun, I don't think I would have totally committed my self to attending this event... until.... they asked me to participate in the pie auction in which I have turned this friendly little fundraiser into.... The Battle of the Pies!!! I love a good competition, even though the other participants probably aren't thinking there competing for the most bids tonight at the auction I am.... I have a kick ass pie and you can quote me on that. I had to hire the help of the county's queen of cakes an cupcakes Krysti Steenburgh (please check out her blog krystikakes-krysti@blogspot.com ) Together we created the rice crispy jelly bean pie, by together I mean I came up with the idea and she did all the work, thanks again Krysti. So anyways here's a photo of the pie and a picture of the impending battle. You could wish me luck but, I don't think I need it.
Just kidding there is some competition, I can't wait to see Nell's Pie and Rene's Pie..... But in a Battle you need to be a bit cocky, so ya I'm going win.
